The Building Foreman at the CreeConstruction and Development Company is a proven trade leader who takes directownership of daily field execution on the job site. This hands-on supervisoryrole is the critical link between the Site Superintendent and the constructioncrews, ensuring that work progresses safely, on schedule, and to the higheststandards of quality. The Building Foreman coordinates trades, enforces HSErequirements on the ground, and keeps every aspect of the day-to-day buildmoving with precision — all within a remote fly-in / fly-out work environmentin Northern Quebec.
Your Responsibilities
• Plan and direct daily constructionactivities for building trades crews — carpenters, framers, finishers, andother site personnel — in accordance with the project schedule, plans, andspecifications.
• Lead by example on health, safety,and environment (HSE): conduct daily toolbox talks, enforce site safety rules,complete pre-task hazard assessments, and report incidents immediately to theSuperintendent.
• Read, interpret, and communicateconstruction drawings and shop drawings to field crews; identify discrepanciesearly and escalate to the Superintendent or Project Manager.
• Maintain complete and accuratedaily field documentation — crew logs, hours worked, equipment use, materialdeliveries, weather conditions, and work progress.
• Coordinate specialtysubcontractors on site in collaboration with the Site Superintendent, ensuringinterfaces are well-managed and work areas are properly sequenced.
• Monitor workmanship qualitythroughout execution; identify and correct non-conformances before theyescalate and ensure deficiency lists are closed out promptly.
• Manage materials, tools, andequipment on site: track inventory, flag shortages in advance, and maintain anorganized, clean, and secure work area at all times.
• Supervise, mentor, and support thedevelopment of journeymen and apprentices on your crew, fostering a culture ofaccountability, safety, and pride in the work.
• Participate in weekly sitecoordination meetings and contribute to schedule reviews, issue tracking, andprogress reporting.
Your Profile
• DEP (Diploma of VocationalStudies) in a construction trade — carpentry, framing, or a related discipline— or equivalent recognized training; a technical diploma in BuildingConstruction Technology is considered an asset.
• 5+ years of progressive experiencein building construction, including at least 2 years in a foreman or directsupervisory role.
• Solid knowledge of constructiondocuments, building codes, and site safety regulations (LSST / OHS Act and theSafety Code for Construction Work).
• Valid Health and SafetyRepresentative (HSR) certification or ASP Construction attestation; WHMIS up todate; Working at Heights training is a strong asset.
• Strong organizational andcommunication skills — you keep crews aligned, problems surfaced early, and thework moving.
• Proficiency with MS Office;familiarity with construction management tools is an asset.
• Valid driver's license.
• Comfortable, professional, andself-sufficient in a remote fly-in / fly-out environment.
• Bilingualism (French/English)required.
