CCDC Accomplishments

Accomplishments over the last seven years - $180,000,000 to the native community

With the major works coming to an end in regards to the SEBJ and Hydro-Québec projects ( EM-1, EM-1A and Rupert Diversion, La Sarcelle...). The following statements and figures include the wide variety of contracts we have accomplished in the different communities either directly under CCDC or through the joint venture.

Our joint ventures are Nemaska Eeenou Companee (Nemaska), Nabashou (Eastmain), CheeBee Cree Construction (Chisasibi), Tawich-CCDC (Wemindji), MAK-CCDC (Mistissini), United Cree Construction (Tataskweyak Cree Nation), EeyouIstchee Construction Products (Chisasibi, Wemindji, Nemaska and Eastmain) and KC joint Venture (Kashechewan).

The Cree Construction and Development Company and our joint venture partners are proud to report that in the last 7 years, one hundred million dollars ($100, 000, 000.00) have been paid to first nation members in salaries, the large majority being paid to Crees. These salaries are a cumulative for CCDC and all of our joint ventures with various economic development entities in the communities.

The Cree Construction and Development Company and its partners spent another eighty million dollars ($80,000,000.00) on construction materials, equipment rentals, subcontracts and various other services to Cree or other first nation service providers since 2003.

The Cree Construction & Development Company is proud to be owned by the James Bay Cree Nation as a whole and we will continue to work hard to develop and employ as many First Nation’s members as we can.

It is our greatest pride to state that 300 to 350 Native employees work for CCDC and our joint ventures on average per year. These employees have demonstrated that they are capable and competent in all construction related trades and specialties. It is to these employees and our other employees from multiple ethnic backgrounds that CCDC owes its success, among these we employ 15 engineers.

Through the Cree Job Partnership, CCDC has a mandate to train two hundred and ninety first nations’ members over the next thirty months. The positions will vary to cover all positions in the construction (field and administration), catering and janitorial industries. The Cree Job Partnership is possible through the contributions of Emploi Québec, ASEP, CREECO (ADC, CCDC, Valpiro and Air Creebec), Cree School Board and the Cree Human Resources Department.
